19.3 Connecting chain on sprockets

  1. When connecting strand use sprocket for rigid support. Supporting chain against removal force with heavy bar or tubing held against opposite side of chain and sprocket.
  2. Grease connector before installation.
  3. Check Connector to ensure correct orientation of chain pin in relation to flats or cotter holes prior to installation.
  4. Where appropriate use press equipment to assemble connectors.
  5. Check that the assembled joint freely articulates. If not then a light blow exerted on the opposite end of the connector should allow the pitch point to release.
