Here we are Hard face welding to a large Cast Manganese drag chain for a US cement plant. This is all done robotically to ensure consistency of the weld and depth. The majority do this by hand which is inconsistent and messy! The other factor is inconsistent Welds causes the link to not lye flat and causes unequal wear on the floor of the conveyor and link itself. Inconsistent weld penetration that will occur naturally by hand will result in issues with surface hardness and potential premature failure.
