John King Ltd is a family enterprise established in 1926. This is considered a major benefit since it ensures that the company maintain a longer term view. The development of strong and lasting relationships with suppliers and customers is paramount. Short term advantage is superseded by improved strategic planning for improved longer term benefit.

The overseas market remains a growth area. The Directors have continued to pursue their objective of controlled growth in the key markets of Europe, Africa, South East Asia, Central and South America and notably North America. Very positive sales progress since our return to North America which has been bolstered by infrastructural investment and development.

The proven strategy of focusing on key industries will continue. Experience gained has allowed for the development of a greater understanding of the applications encountered and how new products and improved specifications can be introduced for the benefit of the customer and the enhancement of the Company’s reputation in these fields.

The implementation of ISO 9001:2015 has created renewed vigor within the operation in terms of establishing and implementing quality objectives within the business with a strong focus on John King Laser. This has been all encompassing and staff throughout the business have gained an understanding in fulfilling their individual responsibilities and contributing where possible to the collective objective of continual improvement to the benefit of all those associated with John King Ltd.

The Directors have identified areas of the business where increased and or significant exposure to risk might occur:

  • Competition is increasing and our focus on quality and innovation must continue. The positive message must be broadcast to key customers and within key markets.
  • Reputational risk as a result of non-performance must be a key focus. Rigorous management attention must be applied and quality procedures tested to maximise first time and on time delivery. Brand protection must be paramount.
  • The business must be adequately resourced to ensure a process of continual improvement can be achieved.
  • Financial risks and Brexit uncertainties have been identified and must continue to be addressed as effectively as possible as political uncertainty continues.
  • Will develop implement and maintain our QHSE management systems which meet legal requirements and best practice.
  • Focus will be placed on meeting the requirements of IEC 80079-34.
  • Relevant equipment is to comply with the certified designs at all times.
  • A clear commitment to satisfy all customer and legislative requirements in all areas of the business will be embraced.

Having considered the needs and expectations of our interested parties and the points made above, we enter the new year with a defined framework for quality objectives within the business. Area managers are to ensure that individual responsibilities and company-wide expectations are communicated and understood during performance reviews. As changes are made to support the Quality Management System, training mechanisms will be developed where deemed necessary.
